Found an article on historical sea battle in1185 between Taira and Minamoto. In this battle Taira lost. Their samurai jumped overboard choosing death over defeat.
After that battle local fishermen have found many crabs who's backs looked like human faces.
Samurai-crabs.
The legend says samurai's souls moved to crabs. Whenever fishermen catch a crab like these, they let them back into the see.

It's so interesting to learn that Japanese fishermen see the samuri face in some of the crabs and let them back into the sea! Seeing the pdf article, the back of the crab really looks like a face--a scary one.
